Ai Tenshi
Densetsu Wedding Peach is a Japanese series that was created by Tomita Sukehiro
and Yazawa Nao in 1995. The manga spanned six standard tankoubon and
one special volume while the popular anime adaptation ran for 51
television episodes, with a four-episode OAV (Wedding Peach DX) following
after the conclusion of the TV series. Both anime and manga have been released in English, with the anime licensed by ADV Films (now Section 23) and the
manga by Viz Media. Although the current fandom for Wedding Peach is rather small, the series was immensely popular in Japan in the nineties and maintains a loyal US fanbase.
Wedding Peach tells the story of Hanasaki Momoko, a twelve year-old girl whose life revolves around pursuing love and fun. That is until she becomes caught in the middle of a war between devils and angels, with human love as the prize! Momoko is actually Wedding Peach, an angel whose mission is to protect human love from devils who would see it erased forever. With her best friends by her side, Momoko sets about defending the sanctity of human love - but will love save the day?
Although the basic story behind Wedding Peach is standard magicl girl fare, the enduring motifs of love and friendship continue to be relevant for young girls today. Momoko's tale is one which maintains its charm regardless of age, whether you enjoy it for its magical escapism or its modern Romeo and Juliet edge.
This website focuses on the fourth love angel to appear in the Wedding Peach series, Angel Salvia (Ohara Scarlet). A sassy sword-wielding agent from the heavens, Salvia walks the fine line between friend and enemy with her loner attitude and behaviour.
